At SXSW 2019 I was particularly impressed with the insights shared by the CIA’s creative creative thinking instructors Nyssa Straatveit and Jacob Eastham about how the agency educates its employees to solve difficult problems, using divergent (create choices) and convergent (make choices) techniques. We definitely end up much more on the convergent side. And this is natural and normal, but it’s not always ideal.
